After reading this book for a biology elective at the University of Washington I will never be able to read scientific literature the same. I am constantly critiquing articles I read and have begun editing my own publications accordingly! You'll love it!

Great book. Actually changed my writing still a bit.

This is a superb book -- in the spirit of Wydick's PLAIN ENGLISH FOR LAWYERS but written with scientists in mind. Everyone can benefit from taking a look at it, and it will be especially good for students and post-docs as they begin a career.

it was a required book for my son who is in college------I think he'll refer to it often.

Plain, simple, helpful information. Some tips are kind of obvious, but overall it is a good and inspiring read. Highly recommended.

I highly recommend Anne Greene’s book. She devotes each of her very short chapters to one or two key elements, and those elements lead to very clear, concise writing in any field. When writing about science, especially journal articles, authors tend to write in the third person and use passive verbs and abstract terminology. She tells her readers how to overcome these and many more problems. Although most of the principles are simple, they are unfamiliar to many students and professionals I’ve encountered. She also presents the reader with exercises to build skills in their implementation. I am teaching an undergraduate scientific technical writing course; this book does more in less time to improve writing than anything I’ve encountered to date. Whether you are teaching such a course or want a quick way to improve your own writing, you should buy this book. Your students won't believe that it is possible to buy a textbook so cheaply. An added benefit is that you can read it online or with regular e-book applications and are not constrained to reading it in the applications that many publishers require for textbooks.This enables students to read it on campus computers that don't allow the installation of applications.

With al due respect to all other authors in orthodontics, this book speaks to dentists/students of all levels of skill, and simplifies things in an objective, education-oriented, evidence-based scheme that I sadly do not see in some other textbooks.If you're struggling with understanding anything related to cranial growth, eruption sequencing, malocclusion, and the different modalities of treatment, then I suggest you read this book as is not only will make your life easier, but also will be able to deliver all the information you will need. All of this in a well adjusted, extremely relatable, and uncomplicated language. It is to our fortune that we have teachers like this in our life. Do not miss out, it's a book for lifetime reference.

About the Author

Gary W. Cordner is Professor Emeritus at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania and a Commissioner of CALEA (Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies). He is Senior Research Associate with the Police Foundation and Senior Police Advisor for the International Criminal Investigative Training Assistance Program (ICITAP), U.S. Department of Justice, in Ukraine, and has been associated with the Center for Problem-Oriented Policing since its inception. Cordner joined the Department of Criminal Justice at Kutztown University in 2008, after teaching for 21 years at Eastern Kentucky University (EKU), including five years as Dean of the College of Justice & Safety. At EKU he also founded and directed the Regional Community Policing Institute and the International Justice & Safety Institute. Before joining the faculty at EKU, he worked as a police officer and police chief in Maryland and taught at Washington State University and the University of Baltimore. He maintains the Modern Policing Blog at https://gcordner.wordpress.com/, which comments on news and developments in the policing world.

Cordner is a past member of the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council, the Kentucky Criminal Justice Council, and the Lexington/Fayette County Civil Service Commission; founding editor of Police Quarterly and past editor of the American Journal of Police; and past president of the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences (ACJS).
